The Mental Health and Christianity Conference (MHCC) took place for the first time on Saturday 14th May @ Wesley Hall, Sheffield. Spearheaded by Pontes Training, with support from Media for Ministry and three partner denominations.

The conference looked at the relationship with mental health and faith. Particularly given the, often, negative impressions of mental health given by some areas of Christianity. We looked at how our faith can both positively or negatively impact our mental health.

It was held at Wesley Hall, Crookes, Sheffield but parts of the conference were livestreamed too. This was, of course, a job for the Media for Ministry team! Click here to get a taster of the livestream.

Photo of just part of the livestreaming set up from the M4M team. Including chroma keys to display names as they begin talking.

As well as the livestreaming. Media for Ministry carried out all of the pre-event marketing, management and promotion. The event was hosted on Eventbrite, with sign-ups for both onsite and online tickets possible. The online element was donation only. Whilst the onsite tickets included lunch for a cost. We were able to customise questions to gain all the necessary information to enable the conference to run smoothly.

Starting from scratch, it was a real challenge. We had to penetrate a new market, create a buzz for something that had never happened before. It worked! With support from the Methodist Church (Sheffield Circuit and District), the United Reformed Church (Yorkshire Synod) and the Church of England (Diocese of Sheffield) we were able to get the message far and wide. We had over 50 attending onsite, and the views continue to clock up on the recording on YouTube!

We hope to support the conference again next year and look forward to what it will bring!
